Red Faction Armageddon is a linear third person shooter taking place in the year 2170 on Mars, half a century after the events of Red Faction Guerrilla. If you like to beat games then move on, a rental is in order, if you are a completionist, or like to re-visit and play good games, then a purchase is in order. Overall, great game for beginners and veterans alike. Great news is features unlocked during gameplay, carry on to the coop. I've not yet played the multiplayer, but it's more coop than multi. Based on some of the crap that's been release this year, i'm going to give it 5 stars. With the story, and the linear progression, i was not sure i would like this.
They are on the high dollar side, so i've not yet unlocked, but things like unlimited ammo are always fun to keep the game from getting stale. After you finish the game, you get the opportunity to unlock cheats.
toots" is a funny weapon, and one that is enjoyable. The addition of the N+ playthrough is great, giving you the opportunity to finish leveling Mason. I was very disappointed by some of the early reviews, and actually attempted to cancel the preorder. This is a great feature, as many times you will be surrounded by enemies and need to take apart the environment to survive. The new Nano forge allows you to rebuild what you have destroyed. Aside from the occasional boss, you pretty much know what you are up against. The enemies consists of several types, that repeat throughout your adventure. The upgrading of powers has been improved as well, with 4 rings of possible upgrades, finding the right mix is actually fun, not a chore. I didn't find much use of the other weapons, but found the Mag, and machine gun as a must. Tagging enemies and sending them across the screen was a great joy.
Your trusty hammer is back, although, i didn't use it much. Gone are the endless vehicle rides to get to your next destination, also gone is the ability to go anywhere and destroy anything. If you enjoy a good story, solid progression, and even a little challenge, this episode of Red Faction is great. If you are the "sandbox" player, probably not the best game for you. After playing through the first time, i must say, that i was very impressed.
